First level of first Super Mario game in first-person view

In case you’ve ever wondered what it must have felt like to play a game from 1985 in the first person, this video produced by ‘internet celebrity’ Freddie Wong (I’ve just spent 20 minutes trying to find a gif of that shrug Harry Hill does on TV Burp when he has no idea who he’s talking about) should satisfy your curiosity.

Just a couple of gripes with what is otherwise a very visually fetching watch: why the achievement bar thing? Why the narrow platform to race across? (As I always imagined this was taking place on the ground and the pipes were underground) and most of all, why no downpipe travel? If anything, that is what I’ve imagined happening through my own eyes before.
