Nintendo to release NES themes soundtrack album

Nintendo nerds rejoice – as if it wasn’t hard enough to believe that the original NES console has been around in its various forms since 1983, the makers themselves are acknowledging the new appreciation for retro game music by releasing an official soundtrack album of its most popular game theme songs.

Rocket News 24 has reported that the music slated for release has been recorded directly from the original games and are intended to be the “clearest possible” versions. Now you have no excuse for cranking out those shoddy Youtube rips during your next Gaming Night; you just have to stump up the requisite 2,400 yen (that’s about £15 for us Brits) to order it upon release next month…that is, if it even gets a Western release.

Check here for the tracklisting, and tell me which songs you can’t wait to hear in all their 8-bit glory!
